It`s not what I use, but how I use it.

All I need is a couple of notes, start humming a melody and I`m off. I follow the Alchemist way "One should be able to make a beat from anything."

Children`s record, Opera, Jazz, Folk, Isreali, Spoken Word just get the bits I want.

Still I don`t mess with other Hip Hop records drums though. Just me.

Never ever will I sample another producer's shit. Only thing I would take from a hip hop record is vocals or something.

Don't ever sample from MP3's. Too much hassle for me since the computer is so far away from the equipment. Plus, I don't go searching for samples on the internet anyway.

I've sampled a CD once or twice. Haven't done it in a long time. Probably won't for a long time too.

Other than that, I sample any record. Reissue whatever I just don't care. I'd prefer to have the original but sometimes a reissue's all you can get so I gotta do what I gotta do. I tend to stay away from stuff that I know has been sampled already too.

Im a purist....I get angry when cats download shit off the internet and buy sample cd's only because im breakin the bank and spendin hours and hours drivin round L.A. lookin for records....but thats a whole nother thread

I try to sample only the rare ish....I got a homie that has a pation for classic foreign films most of them are on VHS...so besides records thats how I get down. But Most importantly I WORK FOR MY SAMPLE STOCK and dig deep very deep :)

sampling is so important to the music i make that i cant be so careless to sample just any old thing w/o a care in the world...put a little work in..

This is a funny topic cause I think alot of people feel that they cant sample anything not funk or not made before 1979, Like its been said in this forum.
Sample what ever..

Does it sound dope......If so can It matter.
I'll sample my fan when paper gets stuck in it
shift the pitch and phase it out, call it funk punk or the hibbie
its all dope to me

the older and more rare the better, is what i feel is best.
but i will use anything that i think is ill. xcept another modern hip hop producer. I would sample classic hip hop drums from the 80s but thats it.

when I sample, I dont like to use 2 samples from two differnt songs, all samples must be from only 1 song, except drums
