MPC 1000 or 2500?

I've never used an MPC before, I currently use Reason 3.0 and an m-audio Trigger Finger. I'm interested in the 2500 because I heard that it integrates well with software. Would it be better to start off with the 2500 or something simpler, like the 1000?

do your research. they both intergrate well with computers. if you look up the specs of the two and compare them ull figure it out on ur own.

The learning curve difference between the 1000 and 2500 is almost non-existent. They should both take you about the same to learn. If you've been using Reason and the Trigger Finger, I would suggest going with the 2500. If you were to go with the 1000, you'd end up outgrowing it too quickly. The 2500 is slightly better at interfacing with a computer (very slightly).

If you do any live type performance, the 2500 is a must (extra Qlink, etc)

^^^^ i dont agree with that. THe 1000 is very capable especially with the new OS, considering you could buy 2 MPC 1ks for the price of a 2500 for no major differences for some users (depending on what you want to do with it). You could get a motif ES rack or something with the 1k for the same price. Jst my opp

I just bought my first MPC last week and decided on the 2500, would never look back now.

I just prefer it to the 1000 size wise and the stories about the 1000 pads put me off. Granted not everyone's have gone bad but it seems to happen a lot.

It's also got the extra features such as chop shop/grid edit . And the keypad is nice too, allows you to punch in figures instead of using the dial all the time. It all makes for a good workflow but no doubt you'll get good results on either if you take the time to learn it.

Plus you can now add a cd drive and burn audio discs all within the unit!

How would you "add" the cd drive to the 2500? How much does this cost?

I need advice on the same. My budget is £950. Is it more worthwhile buying a MPC1000 and have money left probably to invest on a synth or to spend the whole lot on the 2500.

Glydez go to Digital Village in Birmingham, i picked up my brand new 2500 for £790 2 weeks ago. That's £150 off list price.

Just call them and ask for the same, they should sort you out.

Then with the £150 you could always buy a softsynth or even save up a bit more and get Reason 3.0. That's the setup i'm going for and it's got pretty much everything you need.

TennesseePimp865 you add the Akai CD-M25, it slots into the front of the MPC next to the CF card slot.

I was kinda shocked myself too, didn't think i had a chance of getting that offer so i rang them up and asked if they would do it for £800, what Griddy paid. The bloke said yes straight away, didn't even have to haggle.

Then i got down there to pick it up, went to pay and he says 'Yeah, we're actually doing these for £790'

Ye they're a ****, i was torn between the MPC and a Roland Fantom X6. You can't go wrong with either but as you live in Birmingham, get down to Digital Village and try them both out. I was sold as soon as i laid my hands on the 2.5!
The shop's got some awesome kit too, they might even have a microkorg on the top floor but i can't be sure.

Yeah i no bout digital village havent been yet though. Am definitely goin to check it out now though.
I went London last week and they have a very good selection of equipment at Turnkey.
Im from Oldbury which is just on the edge of main Birmingham.
