Why do producers.

Why do they use Records when they could just get it was a CD then put it on there computer then use software to cut out the sample they want then put it in the MPC. I never understood that.

Well it all starts in a land far far away (about 20 years ago now) way way back when they didnt have CDs, but they DID have vinyl. It just so happened that sampling vinyl creates the best sounding **** in the whole world, it captures a quality of music that is harder to capture on digital software etc. Even more importantly you can find music on records that you will never ever find on CDs.

And yes, some producers do sample off CDs.

Seems like I've heard Kanye sample joints off cd. I'm not gonna lie, I've done it a few times when I couldn't get over to the record shops...but these days I've got enough vinyl to stink up whatever closet I throw em in.

The reason producers probably stick to vinyl is because of the way it's mastered as opposed to cds. It's the same reason most filmmakers today use old school expensive ass film despite being overloaded with digital camera technology. Digital only gives you face value pretty much. When youre **** with the gritty nastyass records, you get texture, depth, and richness in your audio.

yeah its basically a hip hop "tradition" from way back. and i think, mainly because there are a lot more music that are out on vinyls than on cd

anything on CD can be found on vinyl, but not everything on vinyl can be found on CD... well, that's just what i assume - i may be wrong...

Plus most producers used to be DJ's so were just used to the vinyl thing anyway.

i personally just like to lug around an extra couple hundred pounds everytime i gotta move.

ok i tried to refrain from postin on here but yeah i feel you dopedragon,

it's like cloths or food if i move with out my vinyl then i cant survive.

i was a dj for 24 yrs before i got into maken beats so i had to get to the next level which is what ?

yeah maken beats with records i'm not much into the digital sound i like my music warm and fuzzy it feels better and sounds better too.

some people don't like to use computers in their audio setup.
so they stick with the old tried and true method of vinyl and mpc.

some are just purists and want ONLY vinyl and mpc.

some like me don't have any vinyl, and use computer but IF I did have some vinyl I'd use that as well.

some people have both and use both, vinyl and computer..

it's a choice and/or preference.

got that right, I sold all my stuff back in 1990, if I hadn't have sold my 24 craates and technics I'd be right up there in dj years with EDE, lol.

cds....hmm.......damn! I should have thought about this before I copped all this vinyl......

1-play a CD
2-play a vinyl of the same recording
