Thanks distortedtekno! The question now is, can I go directly from v. 1.05 to 2.10?

originally, it was stated that you need to update from OS 1.07 before you update to 2.0. I'm not sure if this is the case with 2.10. But to be on the safe side, update to 1.07 first. When you update, make sure there are no other OS files on the CF card or the mpc wont update at all. So just download both 1.07 and 2.10 on to your desktop, copy 1.07 to your CF card and update. Then delete the 1.07 bin from your card and copy 2.10 to it and update once again. you'll be done with it in no time.

Thanks. I'll definitely do the safe way.

no problem. i figure it would be better to explain what i did briefly to avoid frustration and time... plus the fact that you may find the search engine on this site a bit tricky to find the answer otherwise.

I've been following the directions to updating the OS but it doesn't seem to work. I've been turning on the unit while holding the window button and then pressing the rec button. But it doesn't update. Help please.

what do you see on the screen when it goes through? are you pressing the rec button when it tells you?

you may want to use the reset feature (when it's back up after installing the new os, press and hold the erase button to turn it on)

Well, when i power it up it says a correct os file wasn't found. I am booting it up with the compact flash card it came with including the wav files if that makes a difference.

is that the only OS bin file on the CF card? try taking all of the files off of the CF card and put only the bin file on there. (you have to first unzip the downloaded file and put only the .bin on the CF card) then try to upgrade it. if done correctly, the mpc tells you when to press the rec button. and when you do press the rec button, you don't have to hold it down. just press it.

hey sparq's it could be another PC issue to, if that doesn't work, try downloading from another PC and then upload the New O.S.
