There should have been a read me file in the folder you downloaded and unzipped but, I'm cool so I'll guide you the rest of the way. So far you have done everything right. Now all you got to do is go to the load page, select CF card, open the file you saved on the card (of the new OS) and open it. It should open from ther I think. You'll figure it out from there. Later!!!

taxman806, there is no read me file with the OS download with update instructions. You have to search on the site for it.

I already have the OS. What I saying is that without this link, it is not easy to find or I am grossly overlooking something.

For the MPC 1000, everything is practically in one place. This is not the case (last time I looked) for the 2500. If I am missing something..let me know.

When you visit www.akaipro.com , the news about the new OS just pops out in the upper right corner. Clicking on that gives you access to all the info you'll need. By the way even if you visit the "Support" page via the menu.
Seems like common sense to me

... there is a constantly changing small text in the upper right corner of www.akaipro.com that either links directly to the 1k os 2.1 , the dps 24 update or to the 25k update site http://www.akaipro.com/MPC2500v11.php .

the os and the documents are not in the same place for the 1k or the 25k if you go to support -> os or documents.

if you follow the direct links from the main page the 25k site has more than the 1k site, because on the 1k page there are no update directions -> they are only found under support -> documents. so jahrome please, you are a major mpc and music guru and you are always quick with a good hint, but sometimes you just aint right and it does not make it better to insist on being right if you dont really checked yourself.

This has nothing to do with being right or wrong. By no means am I nor anyone I know or ever encountered here or in life is correct all the time. I may dish out alot of info..good or bad..most of the time, but its nice to be on the receiving end.

This same topic is currently going on in another thread. kenbeats created this thread for help. Taxman806 stated that there should have been a read me file in the download. This is correct and incorrect. It depends on where you downloaded the file. The place that I downloaded my file (as most likel kenbeats as well) had no such read me files. Without going to the MPC 2500s main page and looking at the top where it flashes between the 1000 and 2500..you will easily miss this. I actually did go to that page but never noticed it switching...thus I stated that I may have grossly overlooked something :P

Anyway....
I have the OS and the manual sections of the MPCs in favorites. The OS update showed up there immediately when released. Why the read me files were not in this location to begin with is beyond me. As I looked this afternoon, these read files are there now. So everyone can clearly find this info and we can move on to something else to talk about...or not

I disregarded the instructions to install the os off of flash card and tried using my internal HD. Bad move.

The mpc was rebooting at random times when i was saving or copying bars ... I reinstalled off the flash card as recommended and all is well.
