Why do producers.

There are three reasons that i use vinyl in production:

1. There is simply so much music that is only on vinyl. A huge part of sampling, for me, is being a part of the music tradition. That means finding the stuff that is not known and not on cd.

2. The ability to manipulate vinyl. This affects how I produce and have ideas about what to sample, how to sample something and how to manipulate it in the sampler.

3. Im a vinyl collector and love vinyl. I love the sound, the way records feel -- the fact that you can look at the music. You can see grooves. It is an imprint of the session.

I cant believe no one mentioned vinyl manipulation like scratching. beat juggling, pitch adjustment for production. I know now days you can use a CDJ which i should not even be mentioning in a forum like this if you know what i mean. they do have some very limited uses(for example if you made your own track burned it to cd and emulated if you turn the power off on the turn table and it slows down and eventually stops(can u do this on a cdj ive never used one). because most people dont have money to press there own tracks on vinyl before they are finished then do the tricks and finish the track. Any way Vinyl manipulation is a major part of a lot of sick producers style. I mean obviously the guy who started this post has never found a nice sample on vinyl flipped it to a drumbeat then go back with the same record and scratch different parts of that same record then sample the scratchs and edit them or add effects to them. or sample just the left hand scratching with no crossfader put it on a pad and use the mpc pad and crossfader instead of record and crossfader.
