Have you gave it a test run??? What comes in it (i.e. extra ram, hd kit, etc..)? Fill us in...

Nothing extra, just a new shell with V2 preloaded. RAM and HD kit are on the way from akai as we speak.

good to hear, i think. i called GC on saturday to see if they had any in. all they had on hand was three blue ones. a bit later the kid i talked to left a message saying that he found one in W. Virginia and could get it for me if i prepayed on it. i've had nothing but not-so-great experiences dealing with GC unless they have something in stock so i didn't call him back. figured he'd charge me for it and give me a run-around for a month til it finally came in. can i trust GC to get me a black MPC by the end of the week (or anyone else here for that matter)? can you divert a couple to the Rochester, NY location so that i don't have to pay in advance? :D i'll try calling in the morning...

there is an online instrument shop in Germany, Thomann. the price of the standard blue/red mpc1000 was 819Euro until the 15th of February... now there is no blue/red just the black mpc in their catalogue... for 977Euro (includingHDM-10) ! the 128M option is not mentioned... it is a little high price, what do you think?

You should give it a shot. They're pretty easy to get ahold of as of today, but they go fast. It's really just a matter of dealing with someone who cares enough about his paycheck to do a little extra work and make a couple phone calls. If all else fails, send me a PM and I'll do some leg work for you

I bought my Blue MPC a week ago. Days later i saw the black one online. I asked my local dealer West LA Music and they said good luck getting one. I ordered this kit today from VSTService. At least this way i will have extra parts if I want to paint it or customize it.

^^ thanks, i was wondering about that kit. won't ship for another month though and it's still about $85 shipped. depending on how much someone could get a used one for plus the cost of the kit, you might almost be better of spending the extra $1-300 for a brand new one (if they didn't already own a blue one in the first place).

anyway, i ended up placing the order with GC this afternoon. he seemed confident, and i didn't even feel like haggling on the price (any ideas on what i might have been able to get it down to?). i just want the thing here. for $12 shipping i could get it delivered to my house, so i asked how much 2-day or overnight would be. should've gone with 2-day, but i paid $28 for overnight (won't ship until tomorrow though, i called around 7pm). sound like a bad move altogether? i will be pretty upset if this thing isn't here by saturday. anyone else ever special order something from GC?

It should make it there by the weekend easily. Again, it just depends on the guy ordering it for you. Call tomorrow before 4 and request a UPS tracking number.

ehh, that's why i wish i went with 2-day. he said he couldn't get me tracking # for overnight shipping (which seems bullshit, but i won't press the issue unless it doesn't show).

i'm thinking the right thing to do would have been to get the phone # of the store that actually has it and ordered it straight from them. wish i had thought of this before. would it make a difference? would they give me that info?

They just replaced the blue 1K with the black version, and man, it looks so much better.
Peace

i'm pretty sure GC lets you return store transfers and stuff from they get from ther warehouse. I think the item you can't return are ones you get directly from the manufacter through them. (i.e. a custom painted guitar from gibson's
or fender's custom shop)

paid for overnight, should've been here today.

here's something weird - after i ordered it the other night i checked my bank balance by phone which reflected the ~$1000 difference. now it seems like the money's back in there (?). i'll call tomorrow to see what's up. what i should've done was buy a new blue one for $100 less (or more if i bought one used) and just bought the black kit from Akai/VST/sparq when it's available. would've saved myself over $100... fugg.

if this thing is here from GC by monday i'll be content though, i guess...

FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE BUYING THE BLACK 1000, MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GET IT TO CHECK THE OS VERSION. MOST OF THE EARLY BLACK 1K's (which include these that are selling now) COME WITH VERSION 2.0 (NOT 2.1) so just check it when you get it and update accordingly.
