Have you ever heard of this???

I know theres threads about pads being messed up but my issue is strange. I have a 2kxl less than 6 months old. I will load up my sounds and sequences and hit play. Every time that the sounds on the bottom third pad in it skips over that sound. So I hit the pad and still no sound. It's programmed to be there but it's not playng. I then go in to pad bank b,c or d and the sounds on the same pad will play just fine. This has me flipping because if my MPC breaks it will be a long time before I can afford to get another. Any suggestions or has anyone else had this issue???

see if you can put a different type of sound on the pad that will not play on bank a. if the new sound plays, then there is a problem with that particular sound. or put the sound that you have on that pad onto a different pad to see if it plays on the other pad.

ok right now it's not doing it. As soon as it does it again I'll try that and post the results.

try placing the old no sound sample in another pad and see if there REALLY is sound data in sample.

Maybe it was a sample of air and you THOUGHT you had sound data in it.

switch around pads and samples ans see what plays and what doesn't. also go into trim mode on that sample and see if there is actual wave data to be seen..

Do you have the 8 outs?

Its possible that you dont have that pad/sound going to any outs, but other sounds on the same pads ARE going out, so you hear them. Assign the sounds to outs in your mixer.

I have the 8 outs but havn't been able to utilize them as of yet. Also the sound on the pad was working because I had it sequenced in when I saved it. When I loaded the files to that program it would skip that sound as I played out the sequence as well. It only happens when I have a project going and load a new project up. I tried to load it on to other pads and it worked on those. I think I may just have to shut the MPC down before loading a new program to avoid this.

Also, you might wanna open up your MP, and dust and clean the pad sensor contacts under the pads.

While its open, double check that all ribbons connections are tight and secure. get one of those cans of compressed air from a computer store and do a sweep of the insides while you're at it. Sounds like the problem is something dumb like a loose connection, mostly because the malfunction is so specific.

Does it still happen if you load that exact same program to a different drum bank?

No. If I arrange the sounds from pad bank A into pad bank B its all set. It won't even play the sound in a premade sequence though. I'm going to open it up tonight and spray it with some compressed air.

Try going to the "Other" screen (shift-8) and then going to the "Init" screen (F2). Here hit "Do It."

Do not that if you have any other funky settings (maybe in the Mixer mode, etc.) they may be reset!

You know what? I'm an idiot. I had the sounds I couldn't here panned out and I haven't been running stereo mode since I finished up a project I was working on. I apoligize for wasting you guy's time and I'm off to lurk in the shadows of the forum until this is forgoten haha.
