HD instead of a CompactFlash?

well i bought a real cheap used mpc1000 to find out that the flash card reader is f*cked up. the pins inside are crooked and there's no way for me to fix it, unless if i replace it. but is there a way that i can use a harddrive (with the akai hd kit) and use that instead of a compact flash?

yes.

but you will need the CF reader in order to install OS updates. ppl tried to upgrade their os by using the hard drive and it didn't work, so although you can get by without using the CF card for regular functions (saving and loading samples) you will be unable to update your mpc with subsequent os updates.

ok then i will still probably end up getting it fixed or replaced. or return it and cop another one
