SampleVerb: 2 Get or Not 2 Get???

Okay, I have an MPC2000XL which came with the basic floppy drive (that I replaced) and that's it. I bought the 8-outs over the effects board for some strange reason. Now, I'm thinking about getting the effects board. It's mainly about keeping everything in-house (or on the MPC and not going through the computer for effects and back out to the MPC).

Any thoughts on this? Should I get it or is it not worth it??? And, I apologize if this has been posted before, but I didn't really see the exact same question in my (limited) search.

Depends.........Are you an outboard gear person? If you aint then it would be a worthwhile investment.

I have 1...To tell you the truth, I dont even use it much (I think its coz I want the 8 outs hooked up 1st) but when I have used it, it done a job.

Its also worth thinking about what your expecting the FX's board to do. Its not a genius worker....What kinda music u making. If your thinking about Filter sweeps, LFO's etc forget it.

I suggets you do another search or even a net search on the AKAI EB16 FXs board and learn a bit more about it.

the effect board is definently worth while to have but not as explosive as you might imagine...Its hard to say, guess its up to you...I like having mine though

I actually sold my EB-16 to buy the 8 outs. I didn't use it too much. It doesn't have the best effects in the world, but it's decent. I use Pro Tools to add effects to my tracks when I record. I'd try out an MPC with the EB-16 before buying it. It really depends on how it sounds to you. Hope I helped you in some way.

Cool...Thank all of you for your thoughts and insight. I'm still a little on the fence. I suppose I just hate doing things in the MPC and then thinking of effects (mostly filters) that I'd like to use which would require me to use my computer.

Oh well. This is just an expensive hobby. I need to pay some bills (and buy some more vinyl).
