mpc 4000 swing set to 3000?

can't get triplets with percentages on the 4000

can it be done with the 3000 ? that gotta be nice

well, when I turn the TC to a triplet, let's say 1/16(3), I can not select any percentage value

whereas on non triplet values such as 1/16, I can select a percentage going from 50% to 75%

is this normal ?

Just kidding...Your right you can't do that. Try triplets it double time. specifically try the 2000 vs. the other mpc's

...use STEP EDIT to move your notes individually... you'll never miss the groove you're looking for.

If all else fails turn off your quantise. Also try changing the amount you swing by. dont just swing 75% change the amount to like 3 or something and swing later. Although Im working on a 2kxl

The thing about the 3000's "magical swing" that I don't get is how has it stayed "magical and undefinable" for so long. If the 3000 is in fact doing something different that is giving it a different groove from other MPCs, what is it exactly? Can we track the audio of the 3000 vs other MPCs and see exactly what's going on?

Also, the thing that doesn't make sense to me is, there are lots of different kinds of beats that have different kinds of grooves. Is it possible for there to be a "one size fits all" groove? I mean some grooves, the snare hits early, some it comes in late, some the kick trails, etc...Since I don't have a 3000 I can't say whether or not it has this magic groove, but I would think that someone who does should be able to identify exactly what it is...thoughts?

If it's true that you can quantize shuffle beats (triplet patterns) with a variable swing percentage, that's a real difference. Maybe that's what's behind the myth?
