So I copped the EB16 effects board...

I copped the eb16 card a couple of days ago and I think it is kinda cool. I agree with most, that the filters arent fan-damn-tastic, but they do some justice. The reverb is ace and I find the rotary speakers and other effects enough for what I'm doing right now - which is getting to know the ins and outs of the 2000xl and developing sounds.

I got it for £120 - a nice price indeed!!

Cheers for all the boarders who have left reviews and comments on the eb16 especially the whole installation process with pics stuff, it came in handy believe me!!

I got one for £80 the other week :) 2nd one I've recieved from an ebay auction (the first arrived completely mangled by Royal Mail).

Yeah it's OK. Gives you a bit more flexibility. The only thing I've really done with it so far is using the distortion and reverb.

Yeah, just stay on it and pay more attention to what it can do than what you want it to do.
Then you will get a better feel for how to incorporate it into your sampling methods.
The EB is more like a should have been there anyway feature than an additive feature.
It allows the 2k/2kxl to be able to shape it sounds in a much more functional way once you understand how it works and what the various effects are good for.

I agree, it should have been mandatory, but can't have it all I guess. Today I was fiddling with the distortion and I liked it!! It gives my samples a really nice gritty feel without having to re-sample.

The filters are getting better with me. Today I sampled something but made sure I cut the bass out while sampling, but when I ran it thru the effects board and tweaked the highs and mids, it sounded perfect - hi-pass filter just the way I wanted, leaving me to create my own bass.

I'm liking it guys....

Copped mines for $160 off the bay. I love it. I think cats $h*t on it because they really don't know how to use it. You gotta be f*ckin with frequencies and $h*t and some just can't grasp the concept. My ONLY beef (but not really a beef) Is that you can only use the EQ twice. Sometimes I wanna EQ more than 2 samples differently but I just EQ them now before I sample them. I give it 4.98 stars.

is there a way to assign an eq to affect a whole track ?

The only way to do it is to assign the EQ to every sample that is on that track. Not sure if you'd wanna do that though :?:

I'm no guru with this efx card, the only thing I can include in this is that it has been somewhat of help with doin a lil reverb & echoing....I can't say I've really tried the other things out...and at the same time I don't see them being like very affective

so if i had 5 different samples on track one, i could assign an eq to each sound and apply the eq different on each sample? or is it that i apply the eq to to every sample and the eq affects all samples the same ??

You assign the eq/filter to M1 or M2, then you assign your sample/pad(s) to either M1 or M2 in the mixer screen.

I know you guys don't like to talk of such things, BUT I found the EB16 to be so darn limiting that I run my audio track from the MP to mixer in FL studio and use any assortment of effects to jack my sound. Much more liberating because I can assign an different effect to each channel.

AS FAR as I know...the eb16 is limited to what it can do.,.,but if your tryin to get a pretty good ruff mix of your beat before running intoa multi-track program, then it serves its purpose..,.,it is limited, but it does its functions.,.,all the real eq'n goes down on software or mixing boards
