New to MPC

Im totally new to using an MPC and so far im loving it. I have one question though, when i assign a q slider to a pad all the features work (tune, velocity, attack, decay) except the filter, cutoff 1 and cutoff 2. Does anyone else have this problem when trying to create filter sweeps using the sliders or am i just not doing something right. It worked with some of the preset sounds but only a few. And ive dumped a ton of stabs and hits from my computer to the hd i installed in the mpc that id love to tweak out using the sliders. Does something need to be done to the files in order to allow them to be filtered real time? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx

U gotta assign a filter to the pad first in prog mode... then you can go into slider mode and set a q-link to control the cutoff or rez.
