Good Digital recording programs for mpc 1000?

Hey i'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for recording programs. My setup right now is just trying to connect my mpc from it digital output into my computers digital input using audacity but it sounds like crap and i tried using the sound recorder on my computer but that only records 60 seconds worth but it sounded good. I'm a newbie and i've tried using the search button thats how i came upon audacity. if any one can help its greatly appreciated thanks in advance

The recording program has a little to do wit quality but its yo sound card thats the main issue. I would def recommend you upgrading your sound card. Check out the M-Audio 2496 or similar sound cards.

If you are goin to use your onboard sound card for the time being record the sounds seperately instead of trying to record the whole beat. If you record each sound u can prolly get a better mix therefore gettin a better product.

well it's either make 60 second long beats, or use audacity. audacity should be fine, did you use a differet input on your pc when you recorded using sound recorder?

i just used digital to digital input for both

Why not just sample your own outputs while you're playing the beat, and then transfer the beat via usb cable/ card reader?

in that case then, there should be no difference between the two programs, in audacity, check the input level meter, and make sure it's not clipping. also check the sample rate and resolution that the file is being recorded at, and make sure they correspond to your soundcard's setting.
