I have been looking to find pre recorded ambient and natural sounds. Think Tom Waits type stuff. I have recorded some of my own samples and they are pretty nice. Any good sources of cd's or downloadable samples that are not break beats or hip hop style loops and samples? I have some of the M audo "junkyard sessions" but they are geared toward film soundtracks and loops. I am interested eclectic acoustic sounds that I can create strange and bizzare loops with.

here's a suggestion: try sampling off the radio or television, make sure to mangle the samples extensively though, to save any court cases!

tom waits???????????? first of all he makes his own instruments and uses orchestra shit too. he does'nt play in another words.... and since we got so much in common you should check out cocoarosie there great prly more wat ur trying to accomplish. but i raised my eyebrow cus hes a master and most people wont ever hear him. it worryies me someone trying to go after that style because it can be done so horrible. i love tricky and i hate the **** sneaker pimps. whenever someone changes music it changes. anyway im 24 but got a well cultivated rasp from chainsmoking for 10 yrs so im intrested in wat ur doing. you can pm me if u want to work on some thing maybe mann k? i got ideas, empty pockets, and an empty mind- except these dm voices, lol. watever im done.

Cool... remember there are others in the Waits camp who never used to sample but are having fun with it. People in the "folk" genre that are crossing borders. I'd love to hear from other aspiring minds to hear what they are doing. I do a "sunday morning songwriter" sessions just to chop up and hack on ideas.

All in good fun... I'll keep looking for good ambient sounds.
