SO I finally used my echo output....

Today I was trying to figure out how to hook up my tape deck to resample drums through. So I decided to use the echo out on my 60. The process ended up sounding pretty good. First I would eq the drum sample through my dj mixer going into my mpc 60. (Which was set on low with a record level of about 94.) Then I would assign the sound to a pad and turn up the echo output on that pad. Next I would record from the echo out of the 60 into my sony jvc dual tape deck. I recorder with an input level of about 8-8 1/2. (It too me a couple of trys, I finally found a level that sounded the loudest with out distorting). After that I recorded the sound back from the tape deck into my mpc.

This really fattened up my sample. From the way I described it, it might sound very time consuming. But I did this to a whole break in about 20-30 minutes. Which is time well wasted when it comes to drum sounds. At least in my opinion it is....

Anyways now I wanna go try other resampling techniques. Any of ya'll got any? I know before I didn't want to mess with effects and stuff but now it seems I might get into it. After I get my electrix eq I'm gonna be doing this more. I wanna have all my sample sounding great coming straight out the stereo outs before I even have to mix any of them.

l run all my drums through eq & compressor plugs before sampling
all the beats on my soundclick are recorded mono from the left side of my stereo out

i gotta start post eq tracking im just to lazy and wanna bang out new beats

if I have the patience I'll shoot a sample from my 60 to the S950 (whoever put the rec. input on the front is a cot damn genius) and play it back from the s950 using the PB button which plays that shit hella high back to the 60 and pitch it down....sometimes it works sometimes it's too gritty but it's fun and saves sample time and also boosts the levels

they shoulda put an input on the back as well imo
