buying an mpc

I'm saving up to buy an mpc1000 but all this stuff I'm reading about broken pads and short circuiting mpcs I'm not 100% on getting one

I really want one and its just in time for the black ones to come out(I've always hated the red/blue color scheme) and I've recent learned that you can use a hard drive which is another big plus
But I don't have a lot of money and can't afford for it to break
I'm not sure what I should do...

don't worry about it. punchdrunk's mpc is the only one i've ever heard of shorting out. as for bad pads, a little manual labor and they're good as new.

if you can afford it and you're serious enough to learn it as the musical instrument that it is, get the 1k.

im getting a 1k soon, do i need to buy a hard drive for it?

not on hard drives. they are way over priced.

getting a new 1000 for $1099 with the 40gb harddrive(and hd-10) and ram installed is a good deal.

Yes, you can fix your broken pads very easiely. I done that few minutes ago and voila, pads are like new.

the black 1k's in the states are supposed to be shipping with the hdm10 already installed. and for a 40gb drive that i can buy myself for around $45-$50 and am able to get a bk1000 for around $895, VST is still over priced.

if vst is overpriced than basically every other online store is is on a different level of overpricing. I didnt say they give the best deal of all time, just that they have good prices for someone who doesnt what to e-mail everyone for the lowest price and wants a decent deal.

Where exactly can I find a New mpc with a 40gb harddrive and ram already installed?

New as in the new black one?

I’m assuming the ram installed is 128mb- is this correct?

Ideally I want to buy a black one with the hd10 and a 40gb hd with 128mb of ram for around $1000 so it would be perfect if I found a place that sold this.

oh nevermind it's on the vst site

so it's for the blue one...that's a really good deal I think I will go with them but I have one question, if I want to make it black how do I do that.

I heard that for around $40 you can buy the black kit from akai.

is this true? where do I go to do that?
