BPM calculator on the mpc 1000

i was using an mpc 2000xl before i purchased my 1000 and noticed the stupidest thing about the 1000 with the new OS (except for the mixer sensitivity) and that's the fact you only can calculate the bpm of a drumloop (which is stupid because it only works automatically, which doesnt work on some drumloops) but how are you supposed to calculate the exact bpm of your sample (don't say hit the tap tempo button, because its not accurate enough) On the 2000 xl you could just enter how many beats your sample was and it would calculate the bpm automatically. it's not like it would cost too much energy to integrate it... am i missing something here?

you'll need a calculator, and calculate it yourself

bpm = (44100 x 60 x beats per measure x measures) / sample endpoint

The absolute best way to find the tempo of anything is to get Fruity Loops whice i think everybody started on so they have it handy. Go to the tap temp and just mouse click along to the beat and youll get your tempo. I think tap tempo is only on FL5. Try it out

put your trimmed but unchopped sampe into another sequence along with an 8th note hat for tempo reference. change your tempo until you find what it should be.

it takes less than a minute. works everytime.

unless your a turntabalist, why do you give a f about bpm, i measure everything in bars and just adjust tempo to ear, and whatever fits my chops, And my tracks sound in time and rhythm, i don't calculate sh*t, 100% organic mofo.

it's just that i liked it so much on the 2000xl it enables you to get trough a process rather quickly. i just dont understand why akai should enable such a function and leave us with something less accurate (tap tempo)

yeah, I was pissed when I realized that the MPC 1000 didn't have the AUTO BEAT CREATE feature... damn akai...

akai need to add this to the new os,cuz I ran into this problem earlier. I had the XL and had no prob timestretching ,bpm etc. and Now this! oh well mighest well wait n see if it will be put on the new os
