[b]Says the 1 GB card is full and I have 850mb left[/b]

I tried to load about 700 wav(around 400mb) files onto my 1 GB card. Every time I got to about 850mb left. It told me the card was full and it couldnt add anymore. Can anyone tell me whats going on? I exchanged the card and the new one does the same thing.

I've seen this aswell with MP3 players.

It simply means that either you card has some bad sectors you can fix this with fdchk tool from windows. Mostly this been cause do not safe disconnect from the PC when using other OS systems than XP. XP some times give me same problem but that is realy.

FIXING your CF card is best formating it with MPC and then fix it with windows check disk tool. Let it auto fix bad sectors and then format it again with fat32 NOT NTFS!!!!!!!

same thing happened w/ me... when i put stuff in different folders, then it worked, let me know if this helps...

you can try to do what MTZ said or you can just format the card in the mpc (not via usb with your comptuer). i have a 1gig and a 2gig, and never had a problem with "the disk is full"

I formatted the disk in the MPC everytime. Putting the files in seperate folders worked for me. Thanks for the help guys!

i never had this issue but i've heard other people complain about it.

i think the other people who posted said that having too many subdirectories under one folder gave them issues. and now seeing this post it makes me wonder...

is it just a matter of there being a certain limit that one folder can hold before the 1000 starts to have issues? i'm wondering if it just can't handle having too much in one directory (whether it be files, subdirectories, or subdirectories with too many files).

maybe its just a file size issue?

I was having the same problem... backup all your stuff, then format it on the MPC. I actually had to format it twice to fix the problem. I would caution against using disk checking tools (like chkdsk) from windows because when I tried this it was corrupting my card even worse. I'd say just format it twice and you should be good.

You also getting the "Directory Error" when saving? I was getting that at the same time as the problem you mentioned.
