no doubt santa barara has thrifts for days.

I used to live out there. Crazy Dennis' store is one of my favorite in the country. I used to go ther about once a week so I got in a little to tight with him and all the vets.

Im not to keen on a bunch of hip hop peoples going there, but as long as a spot like his can stay in business, there's plenty of records for everyone.

Word, even though he really hates rap, he is generally a nice dude (and real nice with the pricing). Hes got a bunch of funny stories about his ex-wives, Ive lost track of how many he's actually had.

@overdose: that's a dope spot! only been in there once but there was more records than I had time...I need to walk away from this LA digging and get back to the 805 where all the rackords are 8)

no doubt. yeha i think i'm gonna go diggin this weekend sometime. pm if there is anythign youa re really looking for. i might be abloe to find a couple of things for you. i know some spots a little north int he 805 too. but peace.

haha. From what i remember, he's on his fourth! I know he had a kid in Iraq, wonder if he's still there. I just wonder why a man who was so f-cked up by Vietnam, would let his kid join the marines.

A hint: just tell him that Phil Spector, George Martin, and Brian Wilson were geniuses and he'll love you. I used to get drunk with him in his store every time I went there, then stagger over to Superica and pound that pork chile relleno special. Man, Im salivating. One time, one of his war buddies gave me a tab of acid.

crazy story, but i believe it haha... I'll keep that advice in mind. Your Place Thai is that *real* spot though, funny you mentioned that because it always ends up as the last stop after any dig trip to SB.

Ah, apparently I ran into him a bunch of times but I thought he only sold books. Another dude was telling me after I moved from there all about Ed and showing me some of the things he sold him. Local santa barabara psych and sh*t. I was so pissed. But, I learned to tell everybody I meet that Im into records, so Ill never miss out on cool dealers. I believe he lived at the barn, that red farm style house on Trigo?? Yeah, I went to UCSB.

Oh man, Im in New York now and even here, I cant find a place that will f*ck with Your Place. Chicken Panang and Shrimp Toast and Tom Yum Goong for DAYZ!

youre thinking of the right guy...his book game is deep too, thats true. he actually sold a bulk of his records (a backyard storage units full) to Amoeba LA before they opened up, since then its been more books than records. A few cats I used to dig with had a rare groove radio show on KCSB; they put me on to Ed's place...they also used to hit up the Nipomo Swap meet and come back with super rare joints, you ever check it out? That was a little too far north for me to ever make it. Word though, I loved UCSB even though I didn't go there. The digging is abundant, and the girls are top notch 8) .

word nipomo is like two miles form where i live. man they got records for day sin that joint. 3 bucks to get in. then you can cop a cholw crat efor like 10 buicks. and whala mad samples. i got some spanish shit and some jazz in a crate once. mad jazz. but that mariachi shit is dope too. there are mad mexicans there that are getting rid of their shit for no reason. man i love the guitars and shit in those damn. yeha i'm going to thwe swap meet on sunday shit. oh yeah and goodwill distribution center is fly too in san luis obispo. you can get like 25 records for a buck or two. lots of gospel in there. lol. but yeah rambleing
