But to be honest, i don't think it even makes any difference on short runs of cable.

yes that's correct, and you can use both balanced cables with unbalanced connections, and unbalanced cables with balanced connections. However, the ONLY time you'll get a benefit, is when you are using balanced cables with balanced connections AT BOTH ENDS. so many time have i seen people say "i haven't got balanced outs on my <insert audio source here> but i've got balanced inputs on my mixer, i'm going to get some balanced cables to improve the audio quality"!!

1k unbalanced outputs -----that really sucks.

I own a Juno, Revolution, Evolver, Ex5, tx81z, and machinedrum.

They all have _unbalanced_ outputs.

So I'm not too upset or surprised about the 1k.

buy some monitors. You can get some MAudio's for a descent price. Not the best, but good enough.

i just own a line 6-echo pro and mbox.....both balanced outs........
in my opinion they should have...
