I'm kinda confused with the little knowledge i have regarding both MPCs and the use of software sequencers - in my case, Cubase SX3 - with any hardware other than a MIDI keyboard...
Firstly, Using the 1000 as a MIDI controller shouldnt be a problem, should it? I'm relativley familiar with SX3 already but my own copy doesnt come until next week, along with my mixer...
...But If i'd wanted a controller alone, i'd have just gone for an MPD16 for 1/5 of the price.
I understand that MIDI can't carry an audio signal, so the actual sample itsself can't be copied accross from the MPC into Cubase right? just the events... So how exactly can i get the MPC to not only record events within cubase, but also get Cubase to trigger the same samples used on the MPC pads?
On Cubase, is there is maybe a way of assigning a .wav sound stored on the PCs hard drive as a patch? the .wav being the same sample assigned to the MPC pad... and in combination with me using the MPC as a controller, this should hopefully mimic what would happen on the MPC in terms of both events and sounds. This though is still not ideal, as if the sample has been edited after being transported from CF card/recorded into MPC, the result would be inaccurate. Thats all i can think of though. Unless i've missed out something very basic whereby i can hookup the MPC to some software and record straight in.
Does that make sense?
