whats a good compressor to use for...?

ok i wanna compress my drums and samples whats a good compressor to use i'am not trying to spend to much money....i just want my drums/samples thicker...please help!

cheap azz beringer or alesis works fine. sounds abit more for what your used to hearing in hip hop.
the more "produced" sound will spend a bit more money but a cheap lil comp will work fine.

For the same price ($199) as the "cheap" compressors, get a FMR-RNC compressor. Highly rated. Very clean. Dope compressor. Search it out here and on many of the pro forums. If you want a "funky sounding" on the cheap, use your computer and some plug-ins. h2o, Fish Filets, Cyanide and a few other freebies will serve you well.

I second the FMR-RNC (Really Nice Compressor)... Dont buy an alesis compressor when you can have much higher quality for the same price. I made that mistake a long time ago. Never again. FMR is a small company but they make a good product.

i get pretty good sound , by messin with the mpc it self you just got to try techniques try doubleing your samples mess around with the params. there are alot of ways to thicken your sounds,
i could be wrong but i try to stay away from using to much equipment, may be cause i aint got to much money, but figure out how to use your mpc to the fullest it's capeable

An Alesis NanoCompressor is really cheap(around $100) and really easy to use. Of course its not the best compressor around, but it might be for that price range.

dont waste your money on alesis comps. if youre not going to spend a lot then go with the RNC as stated above. best buy for the money til you graduate to the big dogs and hook up a Distressor!
