****Need Hel With Notes**

Hey guys im 16 years old just statred producing. I got me and MPC1000. I thought when i got this, i would be able to play notes on it. Can You? And if you can ,someone please help. I loaded my kits and lay down some drums , but can get this to play notes like a keyboard.

you seem to want a keyboard more than the mpc.
just pick up a midi keyboard and hook it up to the mpc, you can bang out tracks fast and ez with midi.

but if you wanna use only the mpc find sounds first -make that sound into different notes.

Thanks again Juxt. i have heard cats making awsome tracks with the MPC 1000. Without a keyboard, But cant figure out how they do it. And i was told some keybords want work with the MPC even if its has MIDI FUCTION

That Dirty South Sound. I got all the kits and notes but cant lay the bass lines. Thats why i asking do i need a keyboard?

yeah for a dirty south sound get a keyboard- if money is tight, look around the net for sounds.

man dont give up it is definitely possible, i do it all the time.


to begin, just do things the 'long way'::::

get a sample of a melody tone u wanna use (ie one note from a piano)

make a new program

put the same sample on each pad in that program

change the tuning for each pad so they go from low to high:: for instance you could try -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0 , 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on.

now you can play a tune on the pads, right?

Check the factory program Strings & Bass... isn't that similar to what you are asking? that's how its done, check out the program.

go to the samples page and they have sine and triangle waveform programs. I loaded 'em and tweaked 'em with the low pass filter in program mode. Then I tuned 'em like sleepersriddle suggested and tada! instant boom bass. As for sounds, I'd investigate sound modules along with keyboards. I'm cramped for space so I got rack mounted sound modules which I can play with the 1k or my Alesis PhotonX25 midi controller. Suggested homework assignment- make a list of the modules/keys you're interested in and search the 1k forum. Better than good chances somebody here uses/owns it and explains what its done for their production.

the easy way to play notes within the mpc1k, is to sample a sound, or to use one of the sounds in the presets, and use the 16 level tune mode, and freak dem pads.

Thanks, but what do i do after i have sign a not to all 16 pads

u don't need a keyboard to create dirty south type beats and music..

i'm not sure what you're talking about. check the manual for 16 level tune mode.
you hit the 16 level button, choose the sample you want to play, like a synth tone or piano note sound, and the sample is spread accross the 16 pads in a chromatic tuning and then you can play the pads like a piano.
