Do you 'jack' your shopping at the local supermarket too ?
What company do you work for - would you mind if everyone started 'jacking'' your companies products and they had to lay you off ?

If you 'make it as a producer' will you be pissed when everyone is 'jacking' your music and your PRS cheques dry up ?

Seriously, as long as youre just doing your own thing and making some music just download a cracked version off p*r*teba*...

If you're starting to make a living off this, I'd buy it for sho.
Not only do you have issues with cracked software and sometimes the cracks are unstable also the dudes at Emagic/Apple are artists just like you and me, they should be paid for a great software like that.

Still that doesn't mean you can't holla at some upgrade ppl or sales-lists and try and get it cheaper with a studentlicense.

I'd be a liar if I said I've never used cracked s/w but on the other hand I spent nearly £3000 with emagic just before the b*stards went and released the whole sh*t and shaboodle for £500!!! - ironic I think! nothing is cut and dry really.

If you stick with it, Logic is well equipt to give you sweet mixes and for production it is off the chain. But that is one steep learning curve. At least the last time i messed with it.

one catch, cant use upgrades. you have to buy a full version everytime for student versions.

from what i've heard that is not true. but if did have to... the student price is 299... which isn't too far from the update price.

I'm a University student, but I can't find anything about a student discount, only the Logic Express version which is a scaled back version.
Edit, talked to the rep and it's cheaper but still not as cheap as in the US. I'm really thinking of selling my MPC and Microkorg and picking up Logic, a midi keyboard, spectrasonics atmosphere, n-i's battery and going all software/live instrumentation.
