i just drop a beat and **** with it til i aint feelin' it no more(meanin' not wantin' to tweak it no more for a while)then i just go to another song...damn if i had to produce a whole album it might take me a year to drop 12 beats the way i want them.....DAMN!My mpc is filled with alot of SKETCHES but no SONGS.

yeah, for every 1 song i finish, i make maybe 5-10 beats that just don't go anywhere.

go figure! it really depends on the material and your mood.

i never finish a song in a day though. it always takes multiple sessions, and it should. if you're making songs, not beats, that is.

back to topic, usually i take up to 3 days max on a beat. sometimes i get a hot melody in my head, lay it down and dont touch it for weeks, and go back to it to finish it up later.

harmony, rythm and melodies ideas come usually on 1 day but working to make this a track on an average of 1 week, although always i open the session again i wanna make some little changes.
i think i can't really have a finished track here at my basic homestudio.........i'm working with recorded strings and haven't got a special room to record that proper so.........noise drives me crazy...i consider this trax just demos.

No one's arguing, I just noticed you spelled something wrong.

You could have just said, "Thanks, I fixed it." or "Good looking out, fixed." but you told me to go be a grammar nerd somewhere else - perhaps you should learn to spell first...

Anywayz - to be on topic...a solid track takes about a week

you can get a beat up and rolling if you already have the necessary tools you need, such as loops, drums, patches etc...all ready to go. If you have to dig or do some chopping well that might add to the time it takes to do whatever it is you're doing.

The real meat of the project is usually the sequencing part. Taking that dope loop and turning it into a song.

Bouncing tracks down, mixing and mastering are subjective and really you could spend a day or 30 days working on just that but that's all up to you and how technical you want to get.

A week, yeah a week.
