Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

now we're nit pickin but depending on the sample sometimes you do need to set it to mono even when choping a loop into 16 zones... sometimes when you speed it up it just smacks better in mono i've found especially if you get creative with the programing (watch when he goes in reverse if it's not set to mono the 2 pads next to eachother at the point he reverse could POSSIBLY overlap)

but again to each his own not all beats need to be done the same way right!

Dog Im not nitpicking at all. Thats how I make my beats so I would know. I guess u got a point.

I've never had to chang poly to Mono cause I use small azz chops. If you have longer chops then u will run into the problem of samples bumping into each other. But chop small and u will not have that problem Cat Daddy.

hope this doesn't double post sorry if it does.

on some 16 zoned loops you do need to set it to mono especially when you get creative with how you play the zones... and what the bpm change is.... not all beats are made the same some you need note mutes and mono some ya don't to each his own homie.
if you have a problem with the overlap like you were saying you prolly need to do what i previously stated good luck, next thread 8)

If he had them set to note off they and the sample triggers are the right duration then they will mute when they get a note off message.

What?!! speak english

There's a third mode on the 2000. There's poly=overlapping samples, mono=mutes sample when the same sample is triggered again and there's note off mode.. This cuts the sample instantly when you take your finger off the pad.

We all know that bruh.

But on another note,
Its a bit tedious to use note off when replaying chopped samples especially if their small because when u replay them you will be trying to hold the pad down for the duration of the sample. It wont work correctly so sometimes the sounds we be all choppy and u will have to go into step edit and change the duration on the notes.

It is good to use sometimes though

ok, i'm trying to play with this. i have a sample that looped correctly at a given bpm. next i chopped it into 16 parts and placed them in the sequence so that i would think i shouldnt be able to tell the difference between when i played the loop normal and when i broke it into 16 parts yet now they are silences inbetween each of the 16 parts. does this have to do with a slicing setting or whats the deal?

check your bpm and sample speed. if theirs a gap then your slices are too fast. or tempo too slow

By birdbrain Wed Mar 15, 2006 2:01 pm
its the exact same tempo as when the whole sample looped correctly.

So then u need to adjust the tempo and speed it up. I came to relize that after you chop a sample and play it since u are manually controlling the chops when u replay, its gonna be a bit faster then if u let it loop because your not letting each pad play to its full duration, its cut off at the end of each sample for a fraction of a second but you cant notice this cut off.
