Layering the Same Sample on One Pad...

thats not true. two decks will stay in sync if you leave the quartz lock on. if they drift apart, then they are not playing in same speed. theoretically, if they play at same speed, phasing will occur but never drift apart. spacing between records stay the same. just as 1 second will be the same on all clocks.

sometimes i layers on top and it doesnt have a problem and sometimes it does so i just do it over. but how would i do it if i dont want to layer it and i already have the volume as loud as i want it, but i just want it to sound more fuller.

Use a different but similar kick sound and layer it with that. If u want it fuller use a more deep kick but turn the volume down slightly untill u get the effect your going for

i dont' mind if this is what happened to me, but i think tutor might have had somethign to do with why my server started having crazy bandwidth issues...maybe he set something up with a constant download cycle of all the kits i had up? i honestly don't care if he did, so it goes, i guess. i'll just keep em in the family now.

i don't think you get what i mean. i'm talking about if you recorded the outputs from both those decks, and laid them over the top of one another, and looked at them zoomed in so you could see the individual samples. they may sound in sync, but if you are hearing phasing, then they are not perfectly in sync, and this is what happens on the mpc. as ryssen pointed out, the mpc is not sample accurate when it triggers samples, so if you trigger layer the same sample over itself, they may be triggered a few milliseconds apart, which causes the phasing sound.
