When you buy new zip disks from the store they are labled Pc formated or Mac formated. Get the Pc formated I don't know if the MAC formated zips work without having to be reformated in the MPC or PC. But if you want to partition your zip say into 4 or more partitions then you would need to partition them in your PC if you have a zip drive in it and plan to swap samples back and forth from PC to MPC. If you do not have a zip drive in your PC then you'll need to format the zip(s) in your MPC.

i do not have a computer in my setup at all. i'm planning on hooking the zip drive directly to the mpc and using it that way. so if i understood you correctly i have to format the disks in the mpc. now this might be a dumb question but the zips don't fit in the mpc. if the drive is hooked up to the mpc then it be like formatting in the mpc? also what do you mean by partitioning? sorry for the length but i'm new to all this.
