can i do anything with the end buffer when i chop to fix this? the sample is allready a bit too fast for my taste, i dont wanna speed it up.

I meant speed the tempo. Explain end buffer to me, I dont know too much mpc lingo.

If u dont like the tempo of the sample slow down the chops and slow the tempo.

i dont really know what it does but its a setting right before you hit "do it" for chops.

the whole point of this is so i can change the tempo of the sequence which will in turn change the tempo of the sample. when i change the tempo of the sequence and my sample is in 16 parts it spreads out the difference between the sequence tempo and the original sample tempo so that its less noticable that they dont match perfectly. basically an end run around using timestretch. if this trick only works when speeding up samples then i don't need it right now.

Mann...
Seems like u missed the whole point of chopping somewhere.....
You also missed how to chop somewhere.......
Maybe you dont need it right now:?

Come back to this technique down the line when u have worked with you mpc longer. Then u will understand young grasshopper

I already answered your question dummy read my posts

obviously you didnt. i want to know how to chop perfectly even so that if i paste verything back together with step edit at the same tempo it was that it plays as if i hadnt chopped at all.

Well if u use step edit then u shouldnt have a problem pasting it back. U never mentioned using step edit. Its nice cause u can place each slice where u want to just tedious

Ok BirdBrain?!

thats why i am so confused. i have a 109.5 bmp 2 bar loop. i chop it into 16 parts making each part need to be triggered at eight note intervals. thing is, when i go into step edit and paste everything in at its proper place and hit play it doesnt play through smoothly as if i hadnt chopped it.

Lemme see if I understand. Basically, here's the deal. You sampled a 2 bar loop, and broke it into 16 parts, so you have 8 chops per bar (2 per note if you are using 4 beat bars)

So you paste them at 1, 1.48, 2, 2.48, 3, 3.48, 4 & 4.48 (or 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 if you use the double tempo/resolution trick) on each bar. then you press play, but sh!t don't line up. Is that right?

Most likely problem is the original musician didn't play the music exactly on beat, so when you chop it and paste it on beat, it don't line up. This happens a lot, you just gotta fine tune where you paste them.

When you chop into zones, the buffer you're talking about is how many ticks extra it leaves on each end. You can make it zero, so you can tell exactly when the chop ends, and so have a more precise line-up of samples. Hope this helps

And to chime in... that bpm counter on the mpc has been proven to be
sh!ty. Works better with samples that have lots of drum peaks.
