need help setting the time to record more then 39 seconds

If anyone can help with this problem, I would really appreciate this. For some odd reason when I do as the instructions say in the manual to set the time with the numeric button, the time is always set at 39 seconds to record. Is this a factory setting or is there something wrong with my mpc? On another note, I know this sounds weird but if you guys that want to help me, if could please just email me your telephone numbers so I can just simply call and ask you on the fly or here is my telephone number and if you can please call me, that would even be great. hey homie..i think thats just the 16 megs of ram talkin...

when ya sample in stereo you dont have much time...switchin it to mono will give a bit more room to work with...but what ya eventually need to do is upgrade your ram to 128...or dotn sample too much in stereo and use mono, make as much as u can, dump it on the CF and onto the comp...until u upgrade...im in the same boat...i try to "Chop small"...lol...to save more space...

Do you honestly think that is the problem? So you do exactly what I do and it stays at 39 seconds of recording time when you select the numeric button and want to set the time? All my cables are all mono so I don't understand about the stereo/mono thing. Is it possible to talk to you in person about this. I don't know to much about computers so all this stuff of 16 megs, ram, and cf is all foreign to me.

naw naw..this is what i meant my man...

when u sample with your mpc, u have an option. Since most music back in the day was not made without dope ass track machines, usually one side of the mic had some guitars and strings, while the other side had..say vocal and piano...they had to share sides so to say...

now when u got into MODE then RECORD, you will see and option where it says STEREO...thats recording both the LEFT and the RIGHT...

if you use ur data wheel and scroll, u'll see it change to Left MONO and Right MONO...thats what i meant by mono, not what kinda cables ur using...

If u record in Stereo it takes more space...because ur recording both sides at once, when u choose mono, u only ge tthat on side, usually some instruments are more dominant on one side than the other...so choose ur side and record...

Ur MPC came with a factory set 16 Megs of ram...i dont have my mpc in front of me or the manual but i think that liek a coupel of minutes of sampling time (STEREO) u can get more out of MONO untill u upgrade...

when u get 128 Megs of ram, it will give you more sampling time, and you wont get that shitty ass...insufficient memory pop up...

as far as ur tables go, once u get that mixer juss remember...out of the table 1--->into the phono 1 of the mixer...out of table to--->into table one....then out of ur mixer --> into REC IN of your mpc..

and liek that...u can further fliter ur samples before imputing em into the mpc...i got some cool fasers and filter on my DXM002 Numark that i use to beef up samples before i record em intot he 1000....

i may be wrong but couldnt you just chop that sample in half? so you are only recording 2 20 second samples? be the easiest solution.
