how do you keep the 1000 from loading anything up upon boot? Is there an erase everything in ram function? also i noticed on my computer system, the usb seems to freak out my other usb devices. After I use the mpc with usb I have to reinstall my usb midi ports for them to work. not a big deal, though.

There's a setting somewhere where you coul turn off the Autoload from the Internal memory. But also the stock flash card comes with an Autoload folder. Just go to your PC and Empty this folder.

- Press the [MODE] key and then the [PAD 3] (LOAD).
- In the LOAD from field, press the [WINDOW] key.
- Select OFF in the Autoload field, and press the [F4] (CLOSE).
- Turn off the MPC1000 and then turn it on again.

Now... on the CF card, delete or rename the AUTOLOAD folder. Or remove the CF card before you turn the MPC on, then insert it.

PS: it's all in the manual

Once you have the Autoload turned off (and no samples / sequences / programs are loaded) you can clear out the 5mb of flash ROM (the internal memory) by saving 'all programs and samples' (ie: nothing) over it. You can also save frequently used programs / samples or seqs and songs there and Autoload them instead of the presets. Check the manual (page 84 in the pdf version) for details.
