Philospohical advice with regards to playing live

I currently have:
MS2000BR
Proteus2500
MPC2000XL

I want to do live dubs, but I have had a hard time figuring out the most efficient way to work with the gear. I understand how it plug together, and how it all works. I know everything in the manuals, BUT I still don't have a systematic way of approaching this type of performance.

Here is an example:
Should I create a hardware profile on the Proteus that will assign all of my presets to the proper midi channels, then just load and run the sequence from the MPC.

or

Should I leave the profile alone and just have the MPC trigger program changes to get to the right presets.

The latter seems more efficient, but I have found it to be a pain in the ass to actually work in the studio. Program changes seem a bit flaky.

Anyway, looking for some perspectives from some people that are doing this. Any advice would be helpful.

yr right. Program changes are flaky when playing live, I'd avoid them if you can.

Other than that, I don't know.

If you want "philosophical advice", I'd say, if you're gonna play live....then make your performance as LIVE as possible.

In other words, don't just figure out the best way for you to go up on stage and press 'play.'
Do as much as you can by hand in real time.
That's what makes it 'live' IMO.

Wow great advice... I'll just tap the beats out live while I dub it on the 16 track. Maybe I'll sample the sounds too while I'm playing. With my third arm I'll actually record the live drumk sounds so that I can sample them into the MP, cut and trim them load them into a program. The other two arms will play them live and and work the mixer console. With my fourth arm... I'll punch you in the head for skipping on the opportunity to actually help and instead getting all elitist and telling me how cool you are... and you are cool for being so LIVE IMO.

Do you know what a dub is???
