Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I started with synths and was anti-sampling for a long time. I owned tons of drum machines(the best). I purchased a fully stocked MPC2000XL and played around with a little and thought it was cool. One day, I just turned it on and didn't leave it for about 8 hours. Straight through the night. The world of sampling opened up for me and I now own no drum machines.

Then I lusted after an MPC3000 becuase I thought I was missing something. I sold the MPC2000XL. The 3000 came and I had to upgrade this, fix that. I love it. However, I got so good at using the 2000XL, I had to buy another. Its tough justifying both. However, when I want to work fast, the 2000XL has just become second nature. The dedicated keys on the 3000 are cool, but the 2000XL is a fantastic sampler. The light on it is now fading & needs replacing. I've been spending more time on the 3000. However, yesterday I turned on the 2000XL and am convinced that it deserves all the mad props it gets.

I just got my XL about 2 weeks ago. I had my 2000 since 99 and this whole time my SCSI never worked, I got stacks and stacks of floppies. So I been transferrin all of my beats from floppy to ZIP it's been a week and me and the new misses(XL) aint put in no quality time making any new shit. Tho I miss the data wheel from the 2000, the definitly got a fatter ass

I definatley have strong feelings for my 2000xl, it's the best investment I've ever made. Suits me much better than the mpc60 which was the first mpc i bought.
I used to be softwarebased, now I'm making most of my music on the mpc. It's pure dopeness!!

Got my mpc2000xl in mid 2004, I couldn't even make a beat and even thought about sending it back or selling it, but I started reading the manual and speaking to people on here and now I can make some decent beats song and I love it now, I use quite alot of the functions and it fab!

Before I got my mpc I've been using reason and cubase. Reason mostly, but I rarley got the sound I wanted out of reason, despite running it through cubase with other effects and stuff.

If I compare the 60 to 2kxl it's to very different machines. I would only use the 60 for drums, since I don't think you always want that 12bit mono sound to all the elements in your beats. Of course, drums can always be dirty but not always the other samples.
And the 60 is old, I had some hardware issues with the sampleinput not sounding right from the beginning and stuff. And it's slower to work with than the 2kxl. The 2kxl is getting old nowdays and it's "lofi" enough for me, I'm amazed by the sound I can achive with my mpc. And I never multitrack, just mix inside the mpc. Satisfaction!
