Newbie: Recording from Controller into MPC 1000

I did some searching and couldn't find an answer to this. I don't have my 1k yet but i wanted to know how/if I could record from a controller into my mpc.

basically if i made a drum track, then i want to record a bassline over it using a controller thats triggering sounds out of FL6, can I just route the sound out of my laptop to the stereo ins on the mpc and record over the drum track that way?

yes you can.

you can just record audio as you say,,,

or you could also route the controller's midi output thru the mpc and record the midi data for further editing, then eventually record the audio.

well yeah, but its all throughout the manual in parts, ie:
-how to hook up the controller
-how to assign a track to a midi channel
-how to set the midi THRU settings
-how to record midi
-how to edit midi data
-how to record audio

Basically just keep learning more about Midi and audio and then it will all become apparent and you will know which specific settings you need.
