anyone know if this be an alternative to Card readers

i Have an MPC 2000XL SE1 - 8 outputs - ZIP100 32 meg

long time user , forum noob. The Q is - don't fancy card readers much - i want to know if there is a way of direct connection to a PC

NO this will **** up the scsi board inside your MPC.

The mpc interface on the MPC 2k(xl) is just not designed to be connected directly to the scsi interface of a computer. Directly connecting it will blow the SCSI FUSE AFAIK, which is an expensive thing to repair.

comsidering this is a USB to SCSI2 convertor - why would that cause this problem

if i have a scsi2 card on my PC does this mean i can't use i.e Soundforge to use SMDI or scsi sample transfer - seems logical that if ye can hook peripherals then a PC can be treated as a Big Hard Drive

Nope you can't do sample transfer via scsi to an MPC2k(xl) it just does not work.

You CANNOT do it. It WILL NOT work. STOP asking about it.

If you want a harddrive attached to your SCSI, get a SCSI harddrive!

You can do it, I did it already. Just get a Scsi external harddrive to connect the MPC to and your computer. using the drive as a brigde between the MPC and your computer make it safe for ur Scsi board. u can get that USB adapter to so u can connect the drive to the computer on one end and go scsi to scsi on the other end with the MPC. it great for doing things on sound forge and saving it to your external harddrive then loading it up in the MPC. I have moe types for this situation.

good stuff i will look into that as it seems the most logicasl way to get samples in and out

but theres also the card reader....
