If I understood your correctly, the function you request is already possible with the latest OS. The 2500 has recordable track mutes (an un-mutes).

I'd give it an B. I WANT MORE EFFECTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why was the WAH effect left out? U guys think they'll update the effects in future updates? I'm just glad that I have control of the all the midi outs now.

sorry i shud rephrase, i mean that the way I normally make tracks is have load of different parts and layer them and start and remove them using track mutes, this is good for live if I can do it manually but I want to have for example I have a four bar seqence with loads of parts but I wanna make a song out of it and have all the part muting and unmuting to be automatic and either mixed into a much longer sequence or a song.

I'm still not sure if I understand you correctly...but surely there'll be a possibility to do it

For example you can copy your 4 bar sequence to, say, 16 or 32 bars, and then record the track mutes on that long sequence.

Or you can play back your sequence, go wild with the track mutes, and resample all that by recording the main outs via the recording page.

sry dude, yeh man u got it, im gonna get a firewire audio interface soon so I'll be able to do it then via the main outs from my MPC its just for the time being or for someone who dont have and audio card or somin.

btw in sequence edit is there a way I can view all events on all the tracks?
then I can copy all events quicker to make longer sequences.

sorry an one more question, I also read that akai in the operating system put the feature to record track mutes, I couldn't figure out how to access this feature though any one managed to do it id love some assistance.

I don't think you can look at the sequences in a larger view. I do know you can copy and paste notes and events you want. The sequence edit menu does it all.

I believe if you just mute and unmute while in record, it will record the mutes in the sequence.

I don't know if you realized that, but you could resample the MPCs main out and record it as a new sample as well, if you have enough memory. Just select "Main Out" as the source in the recording page.

thanks i didn't realize. thought u could just record analog and digital.
it was mainly the problem though of not being able to make my tunes using track muting at the same time as recording into the mpc as a sample. but thanks anywayz.

Recording tracks mutes should solve your problem. Just go into the track mute menu and start overdub recording. Every time you mute/unmute a track, the MPC records this action into the sequence. You can have a 300 bar song with 64 tracks and record mute/unmutes until infinity (well perhaps not infinity).

I am all for improving the MPC 2500 especially the effects. I wasn't really impressed that much although they are generally better than the XL. The could have at least made it a 4 buss effect processor plus a master effects/dynamics. But....I really didn't expect them to go all out right away. Fingers are crossed though......


Damn it feels good to talk about MPCs again

i am still on 1.0 but i am definatly not gonna upgrade cuz ive never had any problems with mine at all and i see all these problems with the new version

Then you really haven't scratch the surface of what your MPC can do..that first OS had plenty of bugs.....I prefer the new bugs over the old bugs..that;s for sure

co-sign i can use my midi c and d . I dont know what that other guy was using his mpc for.
