Keyboard Midi Controller (PLEASE HELP)

Aight so on my computer i have alot of keys and synths saved as wav. files. i imported to my mpc and assigned them to pads, i hooked my midi controller up to the mpc but all its doing is playing each sound from each pad on specific keys, but what i wanted it to do is to change the note of the sound i had assigned to the pad for eg. when i hit the note C i want to hear that sound in the note of a C, is this possible at all, please give feedback, i need help desperatley

Well---I know what you are trying to do----Sorry to be the one to bust your bubble cuz you can scale on the MPC and also on your keyboard---Midi keyboard IN----BUT the 2500's engine does NOT allow you make keygroup programs. So although you can "play" the samples via the midi keyboard they won't be a musically correct scale since the sampling engine is doo doo.


The MPC 4000 IS:

More than just a sampling drum machine, for the first time, the MPC4000 supports not only conventional Drum programs but also gives you the choice of selecting Keygroup programs allowing you to play 'conventional' multi-sampled sounds such as piano, bass, strings, synth, etc., from a keyboard just like our rack mount samplers.

it is certainly possible to make those samples into musically correct scales on the mpc2500 (or 1000).

The only drawback is that you have to do it manually at least once (assign the midi notes, and tune the samples for each pad by hand). but it is possible. check all the threads on 'auto-chromatic', complaints about it not being automatic, and suggested workarounds.

each type of sound will basically need to occupy its own program.

I'm new to the MPC world and am debating between a 2500 and a 4000, I was hoping to be able to use my keyboard to trigger notes, and I don't understand cre8tive's post, what is a "keygroup program"?

mpc 2500 samples are scaled to ACCURATELY replay notes--due to the poor sampling engine. The 4000's sampling engine is SUPERIOR to any other sampler out and can play back samples as accurate notes.

tell me what is inaccurate about the mpc2500's tuning for playing back notes? nothing, afaik. unless you are talking about the scale being evenly tempered vs. something else?

yes you can most def. play notes on the 2.5k / 1k from a keyboard.
It just takes a little longer to set up.
