Effects problem? soundfile inside

Got the xl with the FX card.

When I lay some effects on some sounds for example. lika a EQ. the sound of the sample sounds diffrently every time i hit the same pad, and if I playback something,

maybe you have some velocity filtering going in there or something.

It could be that the eq effect on the eb16 has an LFO on two of the eq band., Look on the far right of the eq effect and see were the depth is at. It should be 0 if you want to stop the wawa

There's two ways. Turn up the fx send on the snare pad and either go to the mixer page and turn down the snare pad volume or go to the Mix block of the effect and open the window and turn direct sound to off. You should be able to hear just the effect now.

that's the only way I could explain your problem....

what im sayin is, i hit the snare pad, and im adjusting the eq hi, low, what have you... but i cant hear the adjustments being made....first i go to mixer, then fx edit, then i highlight the filter box and open it and adjust the freq while im hitting the snare pad, but i cant hear any of the adjusting or any effect for that matter... and the effect is on....i think i just dont understand the manual... when i get off work im going to disect the mufuka...figure it out for my self.. once i know how to actualy apply an effect to where i can here the adjustments, i'll be on my merry way....

yo nevermind i think i just got it..... i went into the fx send, hit the sample pad i wanted to work with, then hit open and and where it says 'out' is where i did nothing at first, now i know this is where i choose m1, m2, r1, r2 and go from there...so hopefully peeps that were in my situation will read this and maybe help some doods here cuz the mpc is alot to take in... but yo, if im still missing something here or there is anything else i could be doing then hollar, ballers......

the Q-level next to the mids on the EQ makes it sound **** sometimes

Ok i checked the Q level and all that, its all off.

so i recorded it so u can listen.

First its with the EQ effect on.
Second its with the effect off, but with the MIX in the effects settings on.
Last its the sample with all effects stuff off.

as u maybe can hear, its the background "noise" that changes charachter. and it is when the MIX setting is on, so I think the problem is with the MIX box in the effects section.

another thing, does anybody know why the volume off the sample changes when u put effects on? why is dat?

The Eb16 effects card processes stuff in parallel. This means you still get the original "dry" signal. For stuff like reverbs and delays this is not a problem.
With eq and distortion it can be a problem.
Eq is traditionally inserted across a track so you don't get to hear the dry (without eq) signal.
The problem with eq in this case is that your getting the original "dry" pad signal plus the eq'd effect at the same time.
This is the reason that the Pad gets louder when you add the effect. You've kinda got twice the sound coming out.

The solution to the eq problem on the MPC is to turn down the pad volume in the first Mixer page then goto the Mixer block in the fx edit section and turn direct sound to off.
You now can use the FX send on the pad to control the volume of the pad with the eq on.

I know this is kinda confusing. The eb16 is a weird concept and takes getting used to but it's really useful when you get your head around it.
