what are the chances that the new OS for the 2500 will surpass all off our expectations? will the new OS be alot more advanced than the 1000? right now im on the borderline of buying the 2500 or the 1000, hoping that a new operating system for the 2500 will add the desired features on it and make it worth the doubled price of the 1000.

can anyone who's worked and owned prior mpcs for a while comment on this? what are the trends of operating system development when it came to previous models?

i know that this is mostly speculations but this is one thing i'm really thinking about a lot in this decision of an mpc purchase.

i would not base your decision on expectations.

if you wanna be certain, then wait for the OS to drop.

from the looks of things, though, akai is definitely focusing their R&D on the 2 models youre lookin at.

too bad i have a 4000, which may not see another OS update...but i have hope.

Depends what you want from it really. I bought the 2500 for the added real estate, the size and build felt nicer to me, nicer pads, extra q-links. Extra midi outs etc.

Personally, i think the next batch of OS updates will further separate the 1000 and 2500 but we'll have to wait and see.

I have the 2500, and i think they may concentrate mainly on this model, they are using it on the front of their brochures etc, and i have a few friends over at Akai uk. The 2500 is well worth the extra money, i think the 1000 is a tad overprices, and the 2500 for looks and feel smacks it. iv used all current models at sound expos, and the 25 is nice, main reason i got a new 25 over a 2xl was its a bit thinner, and you can get a nice official akai bag for it from akai for £30, not sure of US price. Also the OS changed were quite good in the last upgrade, if you look on www.akaipro.com you can download the amendment, and see all the changes and explanations, the manual version is better as it shows some screenshots, basically bug fixes, improvements and a few more functions, im anticipating 1.2 now :) good luck, if anyone wants any info on the 2500 from an owner, pm me or hit me up on msn.

Are you talking about the 1000 bag?

there is indeed one official bag fom akai. it can be found here: www.akaipro.com/prodaccessories.php

it is called DPS16HC, but if you google it there is only one page worldwide - the one above.

no picture - that is not good because i want to see it before buying.
