Let's say the guy makes the same as you do, except in malaysian dollars... and the cost of living is similar to yours, but in malaysian dollars... but then when he goes to buy an MPC he gets screwed due to his poor exchange rate and pays 4 times the amount he thinks he should. I don't see any problem with that way of describing it.

There is a lot more to this issue than you are thinking about.

Exactly what I wanted to express. Sorry maybe it didn't come of me as accurate as this but this was the scenario I was trying to epress. And Whoa didn't know my thread would start up this much fuss and misunderstanding. Neways thanks for lookin out at my thread, all y'all.

As for the 1000BK, i think it's too early to tell if the quality of the pads have been corrected yet.

why do you ask then?

I didnt ask a question.
I'm just making an observation based upon how new the black 1k still is.

So apparently Akai did NOT improve the pads for the BK.

I wouldn't doubt the pads on both models feel the same. My curiousity lies in how the improved the design of the carbon and the adhesive. I'm wondering how long the BK's pads will hold up before they fail, as compared to the blue 1k. That's why I mentioned that it's too early to determine with the black 1k.

Anyway, I'm more concerned about the replacement pads, as I've been told they were more reliable. Whether they used better adhesive and/or better carbon/graphite is what I'd really like to know.

Sparq, what's good? Can you obtain any more details concerining the improved build quality? The message that you relayed to me from your contacts at Akai was rather vague, since all they could say is that they recognized the problem with the original pads and the replacments are better. Thanks in advance. 8)

they need to go back to what works. ditch the bulky individual sensors.

yeah i agree. i dont see why they couldn't design it similar to the other models. there's enough room for one solid sensor board. the dimentions would have to be reduced a bit to match the size of the 1k's pad surface. but anyway, they should've just added a bit extra depth to the housing design right from the beginning so that they could've kept using the original size pad setup. it's not really that much of a size difference. too late for that, so resizing the sensor board and designing a single sheet pad would be the better option, IMO.

u think they will do that make somthin that makes the sensors better , cuz i sorta pound hard on my pads and im worried they mite break , i hope theres a solution where you fix it one time and it becomes as good as tha other models , if anyone knows there is jus tell me cuz im interested in that.

the MPD is cool, but its' pads aren't exactly perfect either. not to mention it's almost worthless as a midi controller if you're looking for anything other than the simple note-ons from the pads and the single midi CC slider. decent for what it is, but it's sure not god's gift to the midi world.

and the point is that you shouldn't have to buy another set of pads to 'take the place of' the ones on the 1000 (though expanding is a great idea). you shouldn't have to fix them at any point. i personally didn't mind the feel/response of the pads themselves, but their odd behavior and reputation for giving out after time is not acceptable. do you have to worry about double-triggering notes or eventually replacing the keys on one of your synths? i thought the same of the knobs on the Elektron MachineDrum, they're just not of the quality that you would expect and are known to break down and cause problems.
