I was thinking the same thing.

you are right about that....but that would be the original song he chopped up!

I think he filters it out my rs7000 has alot of features to do that and also nuendo does. I don't think nobody is going to pull up a old master of chaka kahn for kanye to fiddle with.

I don't know, but dude is overrated as hell. both in production and lyrics, But "stand up"is a killer track,

wow i think stand up is lame as fukc. i like a lot of his other stuff. he is real overated , heatmakerz are killin kanye with there vocal samps

i like the heatmakerz. they are definitly doing kanye's own sh1t better, to some extent.

kanye needs to show versatility. i remember a couple years ago with justblaze, i was like sh1t, this guy ever going to switch some sh1t up.

now this dude is making some hot keyboard beats, he's definitly proving himself
..
..
.
then again versatility isn't necessarily a good thing

the way i look at it is, if you can do your own style the best, but still have knowlege and a understanding of others then you are a dope creative artist.

Me myself making an assumption based on his obvious acknowledgement to Chaka Khan at the end of the video it would be my opinion that he got Chaka to sing the revised hook. I'm probably wrong but is that really far fetched :?:

By DandyDon Sun Jan 18, 2004 2:41 am
Nah, not far fetched, but it is the sample of her song that's featured in "Through the Wire". KW just did what he does, tune the pitch of the sample, chop the sample (with, of course, the MPC 8) ), freak it with some EQ, put a hot beat to it, and spit. I know some of you are hating on him now, but I must say that, being from Chicago, I'm glad and proud to see somebody from the Shy finally putting in down. Besides, if he's got top artists seeking his tracks (Jay-Z, Ludacris, Scarface, Janet, and Alicia Keys), he's definitely doing his thing.
P.S.- For you producers hating  on my homeboy, 3 words: "Keep Your Receipt" Hah!

Back to what I was saying about the Chaka vocals. Doesn't the original say Through the Fire? Kanye's says Through the Wire. Moving on, me myself I'm tired of all the Kanye West Post myself. The man got talent respect that and move on. Too many people trying to sound like Kanye. Kanye wasn't trying to sound like anybody else. So all you emulators do you. If this post strikes a nerve guess what ? Ya DI*K riding! Let Kanye West do Kanye West and YOU do YOU!

thatz how you know Kanye is doing something right.......1 day i came here and i seen 4 kanye west posts back to back like some kanye groupie was answering one after another....i am a kanye fan....he is nice but i am way different when it comes to production....i barely use vocal samples at all.....oh and chaka says "right down to the wire/even through the fire"...and that is what kanye's song says!

AIGHT, "Right Down Through the Wire/even through the fire" I stand corrected good catch!

Don't get me wrong Kanye West is a Tight producer and I like his tracks don't care for his flow but the man is doing his thang. I just don't see how music can grow if everybody strives to sound alike. I know alot of people out there are trying to find their own niche so to speak and those are the ones helping to define the potentials of beatmakers, those are the ones exceeding the invisible limitations of a producer. Regardless of what genre of music you you do inspire yourself and most of all enjoy what you're doing. If you're not excited about how/what you do don't expect someone else to take interest. As long as you can get into it folks will eventually feel you all the same.

well I like Kanye's work
I did not know he produced Ludacris' "Stand Up", a track that I really dig with a different style than what he's used to do

did anybody heard that last joint with twista "Overnight Celebrity" (I'm not talking about "Slow Jamz")
Kany used the same sample as in Mobb Deep's "Nothing Like Home" but he flipped it really nicely
I think Kanye got skills and is here to stay

I like Just Blaze too, with his keyboard played tracks he really does some great work !

I feel Kanye's tracks most of em anyway. The thing is as soon as people see a format is succesful you're gonna see a million and one emulators. And thats where people start loosing creativity when trying to develop a style they think "oh this is hot, let me do this like this" Anyways as far as his rhyming skills go hes far from being one of the greatest but there's something refreshing as far as his concepts go (not all about guns and selling drugs) As for the haters. They mostly hating on a style cause either 1. They mad they didnt come up with it first. or 2. Just hating on the man cause hes getting paid.

Well just to be honest, i'm a young cat, but don't hold this against me because my opinion....
1st off, I think Kanye's production is HOT.... Not only does he give you a BEAT, but it's music.... you can hear REAL musicianship in his tracks, not just "I'm a producer, I make beats." Now no, thats not saying that I think he plays the keys or what not, but me, being someone who IS a musican, thinks that Kanye has a mad ear for playing out music and making music, listen to all the backround instruments.... Kanye is HOT, and whether peeps think he is overrated or not, it doesn't matter, because his skills still are highlited, because at least here in Detroit.... Kanye has about 4 songs that he has greatly contributed to or has performed himself, that is in CONSTANT and yes i do mean CONSTANT radio play (i.e. Slow Jams, Through the Wire, Alicia Keys-You Don't Know My Name, Ludacris-Stand up)

Even as a rap artist i give the man a lot of respect. Now of course this is a shaky issue, because a lot of peeps are gonna say that he's not a tight artist, but if you listen to some of the things he says, he is definently, lyrically inclined... He has a lot to say about ever subject he chooses to speak on, and let alone the fact that he can RIDE THE HELL OUT OF A BEAT, and knows how to drop a track for QUALITY, which seperates a street artist from a commercial artist. Fact is, he's nice wit it, and whether ya'll on here have a different opinion...... Like it or not, he's gonna sell, and his shit is gonna sale good 2....
