Hello Forum, I recently downloaded the new OS, copied the OS file to the Flash card and then when I tried to do the update, I got an error message saying "A correct OS file wasn't found"...

I already tried initializing the MPC, reformatting the Flashcard, Renaming the OS file, and even using different flash card with no posive results.

Does anybody have a solution for this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Regards, Daniel Trejo.

My 2c ... try downloading the OS file again from Akai and unzip it directly onto the CF card using your PC. Maybe the current file got corrupted somewhere along the line. Turn off your virus scanner whilst doing the copy too. Be sure too to use the "Safely Remove Hardware" before disconnecting the MPC/USB or your flash card reader.

Yes, I tough about that, I downloaded the file several times in with my Mac Ibook with no luck. Anyway, I will copy the file directly into the flash with my Windows PC at work to see what happens. If somebody has a clue as to what is happening, your comments will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

the problem is you have more than one OS .bin file on that CF card. you have to have only 1 os file on the card. here's what you can do. take a CF card, back up everything on it to your computer, then erase everything on the card. then only put the new OS file on the card (just the .bin file, not the .zip file) then try to install it.

it will work.

read through the forums, especially try a search. if searching remember to put the word AND in between every word. for example: 'blank AND screen' then select mpc1000 forum in the drop down menu.

got it worked out all right..for some reason the contrast on the lcd screen was turned up way high thus the blank screen..(seriously i didnt touch it) reading thru the manual solved the issue  anyhow when trying to listen to it, it gave off this weird buzzing and click sound..
again after reading the manual I solved it by returning it to the factory settings...god i just love manuals..its my first mpc so im just very happy its bangin like the way it should..and glad to be on a headnoddin forum too. peace

the way to fix that is to press and hold the erase button while turning on the mpc. that will fix the "blank screen" problem.
