just bought a mpc 1000 blk

what should i do first i am barely taking it out the box dude at guitar center said i should buy the 128mb card or i wouldnt be able to do that much!!! please school me on updates"os",hard drives,flash card...ect..

Well take it out the box and explore what is capable of doing. The black 1k already has the new OS if im not mistaken. I do recommend the 128mb expansion also.

Don't worry there's no rush.

You can make a track with no other equipment!! (assuming you have something to sample from).

One you figure the machine out, you will know
-what RAM does
-what the compact flash does
-what a hard drive would do

Once you know what they are, you can decide if you need them, right.

The 1k forum has a sticky concerning the 128MB upgrade.This is sampling memory. There are alternatives to buying the Akai chip.
