trouble syncing to DAW

I'm havin a nightmare syncing my MPC1000 to my DAW (Logic). I'm having to offset my midiclock by about -50 ms. Is this normal?

yeah could be ur latency sounds to me like ur using to long of a chord and because of that u gettin latency

S***, think you might've hit the nail on the head dawg. It's a 3m cable. Gonna change it to a 1m and see how it goes. Gonna try connecting via different interface too (my Edirol controller keyboard instead of my Project Mix I/O).

If it works with a 50ms offset, why sweat it? That's what the offset feature is for....

It's getting better.

Hooked up a 1m cable - improved.
Sent midi clock out thru my USB instead of FW - improved again
Lowered my I/O buffer size - even better
Monitoring zero latency through headphone socket - even better
Now I'm having to DELAY the midi!!

Any suggestions about how to make it so I don't have to delay the midi??
Something to do with plug-in delay compensation maybe??
Then this'll be perfect. It's gotta be possible to get this to be bang on,
without any fiddling each time i record.
This is 2005 for f**** sake!

Yeah but my offset is small....certianly less than a year..... Fix you calendar and you may sync up.....

yeah man llike i said long chords are ur worst nightmare they go hand and hand with latency and when audio they act as capasitors and u will lose high frequencys im from the states so im a little slow when it comes to the meeter system so uh audio wise nothin pass 20 feet and midi wise i think nothin pass 12 feet

here should be no measurable difference in time between a 1m lead and a 3m lead...although the data rate is quite slow, the data itself is travelling at a significant portion of the speed of light.... the difference between 1 and 3 metres at that speed is irrelevant .maybe the 3m lead was simply faulty??
