Whats Next

Ive been using Adobe Audition since my fruity loop days and now want to upgrade to a Recording Software so i can easily track of my mixer. Something that goes by bars not time or both. Something where i can do final mixing and things like that. What do you reccomend for the job. Something that can be found on the internet on some file sharing sites.MIDI support would be tight too. So let me know what you think of the software that YOU use and the pros and cons of it.

PC; Nuendo or Cubase

protools is really good for audio edition & mixing and the new version 7 has more midi features, so it could be a good choice.
mbox is just ok, digi 002 rack is very nice.

no. mbox and the digi 002 are all digidesign/avid. they are the writers and owners of pro tools. m-powered pro tools is digidesign who lisenced pro tools to m-audio. you need select m-audio hardware to run m-powered pro tools which are sold separately. you have to buy the m-audio hardware and then buy m-powered pro tools.

with the mbox or digi002, pro tools come free.

i recommend MOTU Digital Performer for mac.
its more fluid (can be if u want it to be), its more intuitive to me,
far superior audio rendering, tighter midi, not as stiff as these others.

Now, as for your question. You mentioned that you were looking for something that records in bars rather than simply time. You also seem a little new to this, so the best recommendation i can make to you, hands down, is Ableton Live 5.0. Trust me; get the demo and if you don't like it, try something else. But try that first. It's damn powerful and silly easy. And you can use it with just about any hardware, so upgrading to fit your needs later on is no problem.

I 2nd the Ableton stuff. That's what I use.

But not the haircut stuff, I thought that was cool .
