150? when u can get a card reader for around 50 bucks....i got mine for like 20 bucks off ebay.....150 is a ripoff compared to 50 esp when your gunna havta install it yourself either way if im not mistaken that the 150 does not cover installation too...then u gotta shell out even more loot to ship it to vst and have them install it for u if your tryin to do that, and wait all that time for them to send u your mp back on top of payin out the ass....FUUCKKK THAT

and installation is mad easy... simple splice of power cords with new adapter and plug power and SCSI/IDE cable in... put screws back on... kapoof! Just got my card reader for $10

128 Mb compact flash card with 60 Mb of samples and sounds...
Thats some extra stuff.. But $149 + shipping is overkill.. Hell everything at VST is overpriced.. lol....

That's the only reason I shelled out the $. I don't like spliced wires in my $1300 machine. Just seemed like a bad idea. I realize that I basically paid $60 for the cable, but whatever. When I'ma pay $90 for the drive, mounting hardware, whatever cable I had to buy to splice it and the Memory card, I might as well drop a few more bucks to know I'm gonna have everything hooked up securely. Just my train of thought, and I'm a crazy DIY guy, but splicing power cables and taping them together is not something I wanted inside my MPC. She deserves better than that.

I was thinking about that last night... I don't think that i would feel right trying to splice the cables either.. Knowing my luck i would mess something up. That kit looks better and better everyday... I think that i might go ahead and get it...

i think someone said that u can buy just the cable from vst for very cheap and maybe other places too...that might be a better solution if u dont want to splice it yourself which is understandable and not have to drop all that loot on the kit

I'd never spliced a cable before but i brought the bits seperatly and cost me about £30 in all, was pretty simple stuff if you follow the online guides of how to mount the drive..

All these options and suggestions got me going back and forth on wether to buy total kit from VST for buy the cheaper cardreader and cables seperately. I'm checking now to verify that VST will sell the IDE power cable and data cable seperately. I'll holla back in here if they do.
I feel you guys about splicing wires. I just don't know if I want to do that. As easy as some say it is, it just makes me nervous thinking about sitting there with my MPC wide open and then I screw up the splicing thing.

VST does sell the cables seperately for about $15.00 each.
I have a question for those who have installed the cardreader not from VST. As far as mounting the unit, did you have to buy some additional screws from somewhere or are the screws from the floppy drive suffecient?

I think that with the kit from VST the screws are included
