This is a BUG! It happens to me sometimes. Search the forum, because at one point someone posted a workaround to fix this without turning off the machine.....I forgot what it was though!
When this happenst to me, I just turn the machine off and back on again (after saving of course.) Usually when I turn it back on, it works fine.

i still don't remember who posted this but i knew it would come in handy.

"PROBLEM: Sometimes when I use the 16 levels button to have one sound pitched over the pads my 2000XL won´t let me change the "original key pad" (default is 4).

THE SOLUTION: Press shift and the "Note variation button, AFTER". Assign the same sound to the "note variation" slider and then deactivate AFTER. Now 16 levels tuning work and the "original key pad" can be changed!"

thanks for all the replies. i do believe it when said that there is a bug around the 16 levels. i saved the pgm, seq, etc and then rebooted and the 16 levels worked fine just after i had problems with it. is there a way to map a sound across all four banks? w/o turning on my mpc and double checking i seem to remeber that you cant do it from the 16 levels screen. peace.
