Opinion on which drum machine to get

Hey, whattup everybody. . my first post on this site. . just registered..

Let me just give you a lil info on myself so you get an idea of who I am, ya dig?

I'm new to the production game, I've been in love with music since day one lol. . literally been banging on pots and pans as an infant and been a drummer for a whiiillee. . I picked up the guitar when I was 12, taught myself, been playing that for 5 years now. . I dont kno exactly how to play the piano. .but believe me I can make sickkk melodies on them.. To be honest I didnt exactly know what a producer was till like last year lol but now it's all I can think about. . I know I was destined for this..

K but now, getting to my question lol... I went to sam ash the other day to see what was good with the MPC2000xl. . but the machine wasnt connected, I got someone to connect it. . but it had no sounds on it. . there was one drum machine that was on. . it was the Roland SP-606. . it wasnt that bad I was goin pretty crazy with it. . but I heard it has a lot of limitations on it. . I've never owned or really used an MPC. . but I'm now interested in the MPC2500. . I am very serious about music and want to know what yall think I should get.. I was thinkin about gettin the SP-606 to start out with, since I am a beginner. . but I know I am capable of makin some cracked out beats lol, ya dig?

Let me know what yall think.. thanks in advance, I appreciate and am open to all info, insight, suggestions, opinions, etc...

honestly man i just bought an mpc 2500 and i love it. but before that i was makin' beats on an sp-505 and my beats were just as dope. it's all about you not your equipment but on the other hand there are so many options on the mpc that i didn't have before and the pads make programing drums so much more fluid. the sp-606 is a lot cheaper than the 2500 but you could definatly make some hot shi* on it.

i doubt it. lamp probably has that response saved in Notepad and just does a "copy and paste"...

I can't give you any info on the others as i havn't tried them but you'd be more than happy with a 2500! I love mine, awesome bit of kit

Yeah, dunno about the SP606, but I had a Roland R8 machine and I thought that was good. Then I brought a Novation Drumstation so I could use the R8 pads to trigger the Drumstation right? So that was cool as you like.

I've been chasing the MPC2000XL for ages now, and finally when the sexy black 2500 came out I couldn't resist the beeatch.

When I got it home I was a bit disapointed, but that was only because I didn't know one end of it from the other. Once I got past a few problems (resolved on some forum someshere!!) - I found that the 2500 rocks, even with a slightly buggy OS.
I came from a PC / Cubase background, so once you get your head around "The Akai Way" of doing certain functions and tasks you will find that it is a very productive and intuitive way of creating a chooooon.

That is exactly correct, lmao.. cause I'm not with all that typing, same thing over and over again, I wish it would stop but it won't.. ever.. never..

I keep a notepad doc on my desktop with a few sayings that I just copy and paste and I use then pretty often, you'd be amazed at how many questions you can answer with just a few generic sentences..

You should cop my 1000 so I can get the 2500. The 2500 is the shit. I've owned an 3000, 4000. and a 1000. and the 2500 is the shit.

The elektron user wave sps is also something worth considering. If I had the cash I'd get one. I used to have just the sps1 but sold it for the mpc. At the [url]elektron-users.com[/url] forum people have compared the user wave with the mpc. They say both are very different animals. User wave owners are very happy.

I'll wait until elektron comes out with more memory, usb, or card.

I'm willing to give up my virus for one of their monomachines.
