Is there a forum or something that explains wat all these effects on track recorders do...on the manual it says how to use it but I have no Idea when they should b used? I dont know wat they do???...When I say Effects I mean... Delays, Limiter, Compressor stuff like dat...Jus tryin 2 have all these effects down Packed!

The reason you are getting the responses you are getting is because you are asking questions that can be answered through research, reading, studying, it takes time, trial and error to "get these down pack" You wont master these through responses from a forum.


Again, I recommend "The Mixing Engineers Handbook" Its not that thick of a book and it breaks everything down so that you understand it and can apply it to your music.

i think the best way to learn stuff like that is to play with each of them and listen to what they do.

i remember when i didnt know what the hell a reverb was until i played around with them....once you listen to what they all do, then mess with the settings and stuff and learn how to get them to work for you...

get you some kind of audio editing software and play with that stuff. thats the best way to learn

Manual tells you about it, but your instincts and life lessons will let you
know when and when not to use it..

I have know idea about the technical side of effects. But I know what they do/sound like. J

Turn the effect on/off and compare the effected sound to the original.

Perhaps if you were a bit less rude.... There is no real way to tell you what a reverb "sounds like" any more than we can tell you what water tastes like....Those who bothered to answer are right. Use some reverb on a track....turn it way up......turn it way down....listen to what it does...see if you can hear it being used on tracks you like....The same applies to all the other affects. A few tips: If you can easily hear effects like compression or reverb in your track, you have probably used too much. Except in special circumstances, effects are the "spice" not the meal. There is some reading you can do on these forums by doing a search that will give you more detail on what some effects do but if you truly intend to make music you'll need the knowledge only oyur ears and years of listening and experimentation will bring you...

What type of track recorder do you have, I have a VS-1824 and a yamaha AW16G, I'm pretty good at the roland, and I"m dammed good on the yamaha, I could give you a little bit of insight, but the other were right earlier.. If you wanna see what a compressor does either google it or go to one of your tracks and turn the compressor on. You wanna know what delay does. Go to a track and turn on the delay.
